Westwood Heritage: Retracing The Teddy's Steps
08/12/2021 — Vivienne Westwood
A motif now synonymous with the house, the playful Teddy has become a part of the furniture since appearing in Vivienne’s earliest collections, including Pagan I Spring-Summer 1988, as referenced by Alexander Fury, Author of Vivienne Westwood: Catwalk.
Various teddies can be spotted throughout the decades, printed on everything from cropped t-shirts and oversized designer tote bags to chunky keyrings and stretch leggings. Ranging in shades of candy colours, each iteration looks slightly different from the last, but their universal charm never fades.
Vivienne’s love for the teddy extends beyond her collections. She once took part in an auction for which she designed an eco-warrior Build-a-Bear that wore a Climate Revolution t-shirt and helmet, to raise money for South African charity Operation Bobbi Bear.
The coveted Vivienne Westwood Teddy returns this holiday season with a new collection of exclusive jewellery. Covering all bases, from the brass Clutch pin to the Little Pave bracelet, a piece from this collectable offering would make a choice gift.
In both silver and gold metals, each design has been carefully considered. Featuring hinged, moveable joints, they are embellished with Swarovski crystals and deep blue sapphire crystal eyes. Vivienne Westwood branding is intricately engraved onto their backs. With a gold plated orb sitting in the centre of their stomach, and delicate gold trimming surrounding their ears, mouth, and paws.
A limited quantity of the jewellery collection will be available in the following flagship boutiques: London, Paris, Milan and New York, while stocks last.
